KUNST AM GEMEINDEBAU
How can contemporary history and contemporary art be brought together in a meaningful way and presented in public space? On the occasion of the renovation of the Franz-Novy-Hof municipal building in Vienna, an interdisciplinary project was created by the Institute of Contemporary History at the University of Vienna and the Department of Graphics and Printmaking at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
The publication sheds new light on the subject of Vienna's municipal buildings, in a dialogue between students: Texts and podcasts by 11 contemporary history students on aspects of the history of Viennese municipal housing are juxtaposed with reactions in the form of large-format images by 12 art students.
