LANGSAM SLOW
Summer 2025
in Val Badia at
SMACH 2025
and in Bad Gastein at
sommer.frische.kunst
Numerous banners bearing the inscription
“Langsam” or “Slow”, are set on a summery mountain meadow. This time, however, facing downhill.
Originally intended as warnings for skiers in winter, the signs
seem strangely out of place in the green summer landscape and without the geographical proximity to a ski slope. Their presence refers to the peculiarity of such artificially created places.
The intervention invites us to reflect on both
personal and global speeds. Open to interpretation, it challenges viewers to draw their own connections
between speed, progress and responsibility.
The banners are not produced for the sake of the installation but merely borrowed. In summer, they wait unused in
the lift operators’ warehouses. After the exhibition, the banners are returned to their original function.
